If you’re road-tripping through Wyoming and looking for a great place to eat in Gillette, WY, Ranch & Roost is absolutely worth the stop. We found it while traveling back from the Grand Canyon, heading north toward Devils Tower and Mount Rushmore, and it ended up being one of those road-trip meals you’re still thinking about miles later.
Great food, quality ingredients, and a location that’s especially convenient for travelers—Ranch & Roost checked all the boxes.
What We Ate at Ranch & Roost
After a long stretch of driving, we were ready for something filling and comforting, and Ranch & Roost delivered.
Chicken Sando
The chicken sando was crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. Ranch & Roost uses premium Red Bird Farms chicken, and you can really taste the quality. It was perfectly cooked, stacked on a soft bun, and exactly what we needed after a day on the road.
Cheeseburger
The cheeseburger was classic and done right. Ranch & Roost grinds their fresh beef in-house daily, which gives the burger a rich, fresh flavor that stands out immediately. Simple toppings, melted cheese, and a well-seasoned patty made this an easy win.
Tater Kegs
The tater kegs were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and totally addictive. Made with potatoes that are hand cut daily, these were the kind of side that disappear fast and leave you wishing you’d ordered another basket.

One thing that really sets Ranch & Roost apart is their focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients:
- Fresh beef ground in-house daily
- Potatoes hand cut daily
- Premium Red Bird Farms chicken
It’s not just something listed on the menu—you can taste the difference in every bite. We were honestly expecting just another chicken sandwich and cheeseburger, the kind of quick road-trip meal you grab and move on from. Instead, everything tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavor.
The chicken was juicy, the burger tasted freshly made, and even the sides stood out.
It ended up being one of those meals that completely exceeded expectations and made us really glad we stopped.
Ranch & Roost keeps their drink options simple and road-trip friendly. You’ll find:
- Red Bull for a quick energy boost
- Sweet tea, a classic choice
- Soft drinks featuring Pepsi products
Perfect options if you’re fueling up and still have miles ahead of you.

One of the coolest things about Ranch & Roost in Gillette is that it’s located right next door to Big Lost Meadery. The setup makes it easy to order your food at Ranch and Roost and then take it next door to enjoy with a drink from the meadery.
We didn’t have a drink during our stop since we still had a full day of driving ahead of us, but it’s a great option if you’re staying in town or wrapping up your travel day.
Even better—both Ranch & Roost and Big Lost Meadery now have locations in Sioux Falls, SD, which is much closer to home for us. We’re already planning a spring trip so we can do the full experience: Ranch & Roost food paired with drinks from Big Lost Meadery, without worrying about hitting the road afterward.

If you’re passing through Gillette, WY, Ranch & Roost is more than just a quick bite—it’s a genuinely great stop. Between the fresh, in-house ground beef, hand-cut potatoes, premium chicken, and the unique pairing with Big Lost Meadery next door, it’s easy to see why this place stands out.
For us, it was the perfect road-trip meal—and with a Sioux Falls location now on our radar, we’re already looking forward to round two this spring.
