So while we were on a weekend road trip through Iowa, we decided to stop in Northwood for a bit — and honestly, we’re really glad we did because we ended up finding Worth Brewing, and it was such a cool little place.
Northwood is one of those small towns that just feels charming the second you get downtown. And Worth Brewing fits right in. It’s cozy, welcoming, and the kind of brewery that makes you want to hang out for a while instead of just grabbing one quick drink and leaving.

A Brewery With Some Real History
One of the things we loved is that Worth Brewing isn’t just in any random building — it’s in this beautiful historic spot that dates all the way back to 1896. The building used to be part of the Odd Fellows lodge, and the owners put a ton of work into restoring it and bringing it back to life.
You can really feel that history when you’re inside. It has so much character, and it’s honestly just fun being somewhere that’s been part of the town for so long, but now has this totally new energy as a brewery.
It’s one of those places that feels like it’s more than just a taproom — it’s kind of a community hangout.

What We Drank
Of course, we had to try a couple beers while we were there.
Field Trip IPA was our first pick. It had that classic hoppy IPA flavor, with some bright citrus notes, but it wasn’t too intense or bitter. Just really solid and easy to drink.

Then we tried the Strange Fellas Helles, which was totally different but just as good. Super smooth, crisp, and refreshing — the kind of beer you could sip on forever.
Both were great, and it was fun having two totally different styles to compare.

The Vibe
The whole place just felt relaxed. Everyone was friendly, the taproom had that warm small-town feel, and it’s the perfect stop if you’re driving through and want to slow down for a bit.
It’s honestly one of those road trip stops that ends up being a highlight — you go in expecting a quick beer, and you leave thinking, “Okay, we’d totally come back here.”

Final Thoughts
If you’re ever doing a little Iowa road trip or you find yourself anywhere near Northwood, Worth Brewing is absolutely worth a stop. Great beer, a really cool historic space, and just an overall fun place to hang out for a while.
