Whenever we visit a new city, breakfast is usually one of the meals we’re most excited about. There’s just something fun about starting the day with a great meal before heading out to explore.
When we flew into Chicago early that morning, we were definitely ready for breakfast. Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe had already been on our list of restaurants to try, and it turned out to be even more convenient than we expected. Our hotel was only about a block and a half away, making it an easy walk after checking in.
It couldn’t have worked out better.
One thing we’ve learned while traveling is that everyone usually wants something different after an early flight. Some people are craving a big breakfast, while others just want something light or even lunch food. That’s one of the reasons Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe is such a great choice. Their menu is huge, with everything from pancakes and waffles to omelets, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and even options for kids. It’s the kind of place where everyone can find something they’ll enjoy.
If you’re looking for breakfast near Water Tower Place or the Magnificent Mile, this is definitely a restaurant worth adding to your list.

Where is Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe?
Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe has a location inside Water Tower Place on Chicago’s famous Magnificent Mile, making it an easy stop whether you’re shopping, sightseeing, or staying at one of the nearby hotels.
We loved being able to leave our hotel and walk there in just a few minutes. After an early flight, not having to worry about driving or finding parking was a huge bonus.
The restaurant is also close to several popular Chicago attractions, including:
- The Magnificent Mile
- 360 CHICAGO Observation Deck
- Oak Street Beach
- Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago
- The Chicago Water Tower
- Numerous downtown hotels
If you’re spending a weekend exploring downtown Chicago, Wildberry makes a great place to fuel up before your day begins.
What We Ordered
We decided to order a few different items to share so we could try several things on the menu.
Pure Belgian Waffle
The Pure Belgian Waffle arrived hot with a perfectly crisp outside and a soft, fluffy center. It had just the right amount of sweetness without being overly rich.
We added a side of sausage links, and together they made for a classic breakfast that really hit the spot after traveling.

Silver Dollar Pancakes
Wildberry is known for its pancakes, so we had to try them.
The Silver Dollar Pancakes were soft, fluffy, and cooked perfectly. Their smaller size makes them fun to share, especially if your table wants to sample a few different menu items.

French Fries
This might seem like an unusual breakfast order, but after an early morning flight, not everyone was in the mood for traditional breakfast food.
That’s another reason we liked Wildberry so much—the menu offers enough variety that everyone can order exactly what they’re craving.
The fries were crispy, hot, and perfectly salted; honestly some of the best French Fries we’ve had in a long time!

What We Drank
For drinks we ordered:
- Fresh orange juice
- Coca-Cola
- Strawberry lemonade
The fresh orange juice was exactly what we needed after traveling, while the strawberry lemonade was refreshing and not overly sweet.
Although Wildberry is known for its coffee, we decided to go with something a little different this time.

The Atmosphere
Wildberry has a bright, energetic atmosphere that feels welcoming from the moment you walk inside.
You’ll see tourists, locals, business travelers, families, and couples all enjoying breakfast together. Even though it stays busy, the staff does an excellent job keeping everything moving.
It feels lively without being overwhelming, making it a fun place to start your day in downtown Chicago.

Parking at Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe
If you’re driving instead of walking from a nearby hotel, there are several parking options nearby.
Since Wildberry is located inside Water Tower Place, the shopping center offers a public parking garage. There are also several other parking garages within a short walk, making it relatively easy to find parking in the area.
Like most downtown Chicago attractions, parking can be expensive, so we recommend checking rates ahead of time or using a parking app to reserve a spot if you’re visiting during a busy weekend.
If you’re staying downtown, walking is definitely the easiest option.
Getting There by Public Transportation
One of the nice things about staying downtown is that Wildberry is easy to reach using Chicago’s public transportation.
The CTA Red Line has stops within walking distance, and several CTA bus routes run along Michigan Avenue throughout the day.
If you’re visiting Chicago without a car, you’ll have no trouble getting here.
Best Time to Visit
Wildberry is incredibly popular, especially on weekends.
If you’d rather avoid the longest waits, we recommend:
- Arriving shortly after they open.
- Visiting on a weekday if possible.
- Going a little later in the morning after the breakfast rush.
Because it’s located near so many hotels and tourist attractions, mornings can get busy quickly.

Should You Join the Waitlist?
If Wildberry is busy when you arrive, don’t let the line scare you away.
The restaurant moves guests through surprisingly efficiently, and if an online waitlist is available during your visit, it’s worth joining before you head over.
If you’re staying nearby like we were, you can always explore the area or grab a quick coffee while waiting for your table.
Accessibility
Wildberry’s location inside Water Tower Place makes it accessible for many visitors.
The shopping center offers elevators and accessible entrances, making it easier for guests using wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers.
If you have specific accessibility questions or dietary concerns, it’s always a good idea to contact the restaurant before your visit.
Is Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe Worth the Wait?

But after eating there ourselves, we completely understand why.
The food was fresh, the portions were generous, the menu had something for everyone, and the location couldn’t be much more convenient if you’re staying near the Magnificent Mile.
